The mission of the joint City of Fairbanks / Fairbanks North Star Borough Chena Riverfront Commission is to provide specific policies to guide responsible development along the Chena River corridor from its mouth at the Tanana River to its source, including its several tributaries.

Thoughtful public policy on the river will help enhance its natural aesthetic beauty, provide for a wide range of public uses, mitigate conflicting private uses, encourage appropriate economic development, emphasize historical and cultural aspects, and conserve the river corridor, wildlife and other natural systems.
