Lake and Trail FestivalNew
​Lake and Trail Festival,  Saturday, June 10th at Tanana Lakes Recreation Area Non-Motorized Boat Launch
The Parks & Recreation Department will be hosting a day on and around the lake.  Our partners will provide paddling instruction in canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddle boards throughout the day (pre-registration required).  There will be many family oriented outdoor games, activites and classes.  The Summer Trails Challenge will be unveiled too!

Alyeska Track & Field GamesNew
​Alyeska Track & Field Games - Saturday, June 3rd, Lathrop Track
Join us for our annual youth track and field games!  This event is fun and open to children born between the years of 2004 and 2011.  Children may participate in one of four events; 2 running, the softball throw and the long jump.  If you or your child is unsure about which event to particiapte in, come to one of the two Practice Sessions we will host at Kiwanis Field behind the Big Dipper for a chance to try out all the events.

Meet me at the Park - Grant Contest
This Earth Month, Fairbanks could be part of Meet Me at the Park, a collaboration between the National Recreation and Park Association and The Walt Disney Company to revitalize and restore parks across the country. The winning city will choose a local park to receive the $20,000 grant for a park improvement project or program that connects youth to nature, increases youth's access to sports, and/or inspires healthy living.
 
Fairbanks has some great parks and trails, and with your help we can make the places where you play even better! When you nominate Fairbanks, you'll be entered into a drawing to win a tablet outfitted for the outdoors. Nominate our city at http://www.NRPA.org/BeInspired. You can vote once per day, April 1-30. The winning city will be announced in early May.
